Campus Resources and Centers

The University at Buffalo is home to many campus centers and campus services that serve to enhance the curriculum or advance teaching skills. Additionally, the University at Buffalo community provides valuable student services that instructors may need to, or choose to use, in the course of teaching.

  • Course and Resource Development
    • University Libraries
The UB Libraries offer a variety of teaching and support services to enhance teaching and learning. This includes services designed to improve students' ability to use the library, find appropriate materials, and incorporate these findings into their course projects or papers, and identifying, compiling and administering relevant resources for instructors.
    • Center for Teaching and Learning Resources
The Center for Teaching and Learning Resources promotes, sustains, and recognizes the highest quality of teaching at the University at Buffalo. It promotes an ongoing discussion about teaching and learning matters, striving both to facilitate that conversation and to contribute to it intellectually. The Center keeps a spotlight on teaching through a wide variety of programs, services, and activities designed to support faculty in enhancing the overall quality of their instruction at the University at Buffalo.
    • Educational Technology Center
The ETC serves as a faculty gateway to information technology service providers across the UB campuses. Mapping the IT landscape and consulting with faculty to build IT project teams are each a major service of the ETC staff.
    • DEVO
DEVO provides videoconferencing services and supports interactive video classes. The facilities are available to faculty, staff and students of the University as well as members of the community.
    • iMedia
iMedia is a University resource available to faculty, staff, and students who need design assistance or image creation for their instructional or research projects.
    • SUNY Training Center
SUNY Training Center (SUNY TC) is a component of Advanced Learning and Information Services in the office of the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The SUNY TC is a special-purpose, system-wide organization within SUNY that promotes the use of leading-edge educational technologies throughout the State University. The Center makes training and professional development available on a diverse list of multi-media systems and hundreds of software programs. More so, it acts as a catalyst for the development of educational technologies on individual campuses.
  • Student Services
    • Office of Disability Services
The Office of Disability Services (ODS) is the University at Buffalo's center for coordinating services and accommodations to ensure accessibility and usability of all programs, services, and activities of UB by people with disabilities - and is a resource for information and advocacy toward their full participation in all aspects of campus life.
    • Student Response Center
The Student Response Center is the single point of contact for students who require the services provided by the former offices of Records and Registration, Student Accounts, Financial Aid and Academic Advising. The student response center also houses and maintains student policies and the campus academic policies.
  • Services to Instructors
    • Scoring Services
Scoring Services provides faculty and staff with a quick and efficient way to administer and grade exams. Students record their answers on a Scantron scoring sheet with a number 2 pencil only. Scanning is performed by a Scantron 4000 Mark Reader.
    • Instructional Technology Services
ITS provides a comprehensive set of services to support the use of information technology in the educational process including: Video Duplication, Video Camera Taping Requests, Camcorder Loans, Language Tape Duplications, Technology Room Equipment Access, Coordinating Conferences and Special Events, Video Loans and Media Feeds.
